Freedocast Pro Device

  3. Box ID is a six-digit alpha-numeric code visible at the back of Freedocast Pro Device as shown below. This is required to pair the Freedocast Pro Device to your Freedocast account.

  4. Pairing ID is a 4 digit code provided when Freedocast Pro Device is added to your Freedocast account.
    Anyone with your pairing ID can connect to your Device. Share it discreetly.

    1. Login to your Freedocast account at www.freedocast.com.
    2. Go to Device Management tab & click on Add Device
    3. Now enter the Box ID (a six-digit alpha-numeric code visible at the back of Freedocast Pro device) & click Next
    4. Enter your choice of name for the Device & Click next to get the Pairing ID
      Pairing ID for the added device is sent to your registered email id.

      Note : Pairing ID will be used while connecting App to Device

    5. You can manage your Freedocast Pro Device through 'Device Management' page by logging in to your account at www.freedocast.com

  5. The device takes approximately 1 minute to boot. When the device is booting up network LED color will be red blinking. After the device has booted network LED color would be red (if Device is not connected to internet) or green (if Device is already connected to any internet)

      1. Switch on the Device
      2. Download the Freedocast Pro App from Google Play & open Freedocast Pro App
      3. Turn ON Bluetooth on your mobile phone. This is required to pair with Freedocast Device
      4. Select the device with your device ID from the list & click Next
      5. Enter the Pairing ID ( provided to you at the time of registration ) & click Connect to get connected to the Device

      6. Select the type of Network connection for the Device & click on Next
      7. (a) Wi-Fi After selecting wi-fi as the type of connection you will have to enter the Wi-Fi password (You can use the gear icon to switch between Wi-Fi connections)

        (b) Ethernet After selecting ethernet as the type of connection your Device will act like a hotspot and you need to connect to the hotspot

      1. Switch on the Device
      2. Download the Freedocast Pro App from App Store & open Freedocast Pro App
      3. Click on 'HOW TO ADD DEVICE' and then select 'Wi-Fi settings'
        Your device has created a temporary Wi-Fi hotspot. to set it up, connect to it in Wi-Fi settings by following the instructions below
      4. Connect to the Wi-Fi hotspot for the device you are setting up. The Wi-Fi name will have the following format 'FCP_XXXXXX'. Enter the password '00000000'. (XXXXXX id Box ID)
      5. Come back to Freedocast Pro App to proceed with setup
      6. Your Box ID will be auto filled as per your device selection. Select the Box ID & then click on NEXT
      7. Enter the Pairing ID provided at the time of adding the device to your Freedocast account and then click on CONNECT. Refer 5. How to get Pairing ID? to get Pairing ID
      8. Now select 'Network Settings' to configure device internet as shown below. (This is shown if device has no internet connection.)
      9. Now select your mode of connection by clicking on Wi-Fi or Ethernet
      10. Please make sure Freedocast Device & your Mobile are in the same internet network. Please make sure Freedocast Device & your Mobile are in the same internet network. If Freedocast Device is connected to Ethernet then select FCP_XXXXXX in Wi-Fi settings. Password is 00000000

      Device not discoverable (This is for users unable to connect though they have connected to Device earlier)

      You need to ensure both your Freedocast Device and mobile are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Follow below steps to troubleshoot.

      1. Check if Device is ON
      2. Check if Device has internet (Network LED should be Green)
      3. Check if Box ID entered is correct

    1. 7.3.a Freedocast Device is not discoverable in Android App

      Follow below steps to troubleshoot

      1. Check if Device is ON
      2. When the device is switched on it takes around 1 min to boot. Please wait for 1 min. If not discoverable click on 'Find more devices' to scan again
      3. Turn OFF the mobile Bluetooth & turn ON again. (The mobile Bluetooth might be turned ON for a longer period & it might in idle mode)
      4. Check if your mobile is in Freedocast Pro Device Bluetooth range.
      5. Now click on 'Find more' in the device discovery page
      6. If still not discovered Freedocast Pro Device reboot your Device & Mobile to try again. If the problem persists contact Support - Toll Free: + 1-800-524-1493 e-mail: support@freedocast.com

      Device is not discoverable (This is for users unable to connect though they have connected to Device earlier)

      You need to ensure both your Freedocast Device and mobile are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Follow below steps to troubleshoot.

      7.3.b Freedocast Device is not discoverable in iOS App

      1. Check if Device is ON
      2. When the device is switched on it takes around 1 min to boot. Please wait for 1 min. If not discoverable click on 'Find more devices' to scan again
      3. You need to ensure both your Freedocast Device and mobile are connected to the same Wi-Fi network
        1. Click on 'CHECK DEVICE WIFI STATUS'
        2. Enter the 'Box ID' of the Device to know which network the Device is connected

        3. Connect your mobile Wi-Fi to the same network as the Device is connected

        4. If Device is not connected to any network then Device will create hotspot 'FCP_XXXXXX'. Connect mobile Wi-Fi 'FCP_XXXXXX' (Password is 00000000)
        5. If still not discovered Freedocast Pro Device reboot your Device & Mobile to try again

      4. Turn OFF the mobile Bluetooth & turn ON again. (The mobile Bluetooth might be turned ON for a longer period & it might in idle mode)
      5. Check if your mobile is in Freedocast Pro Device Bluetooth range.
      6. Now click on 'Find more' in the device discovery page

    3. After creating the event select the event which you want to broadcast live

      (a) Basic user

      1. Select the Platform to broadcast and tap on Next
      2. Enter the video title and tap on Go Live
      ( b ) Premium user
      1. Select the event which you want to broadcast Live
        (Create event if it's not created already)

      3. Enter video title - Go Live

  11. How do I connect Freedocast Pro Device to Captive Portal to use Wi-Fi for internet?

    A captive portal is a Web page that the user of a public-access network must view and login before access is granted. Captive portals are typically used by business centers, educational institutes, airports, hotel lobbies, coffee shops, and other venues that offer free Wi-Fi hot spots for Internet users.

      1. Refer 7.1 Connect through Freedocast Pro Android App to connect Device to Freedocast Pro Android App
      2. After selecting the Wi-Fi connection, if you are connected to Captive Portal, Follow below steps
      3. Now connect Freedocast Pro Device to external Monitor via HDMI out.
      4. Enter you credentials in the Captive Login screen displayed on the monitor. (To Enter the details, use the IR remote provided along with the Device. Alternatively, you can use USB keyboard/USB Mouse to enter the details)
      5. In the Mobile App go back and re-connect to the Device

      2. After selecting the Wi-Fi connection, if you are connected to Captive Portal, Follow below steps

    Firmware update:
    When firmware update is available the update is shown in Freedocast Pro App when the App is connected to the Device. After the firmware update is downloaded and installed the device is rebooted. If you are unable to connect to the Device through Freedocast Pro App after the update is installed, you may need to reboot the Device manually again.


    Application software update:
    When application software update is available the update is shown in Freedocast Pro App when the App is connected to the Device. When the application software is downloaded and updated the Device reboots. You may have the option to skip the update or update later. However, we strongly recommend to update for better broadcasting experience and take advantage of the enhancements. If you are unable to connect to the Device through Freedocast Pro App after the update is installed, you may need to reboot the Device manually again.

Freedocast Broadcasting Platform

  1. Register/Log in to your Freedocast account by visiting www.freedocast.com and go to events page. Click on & enter the Title, Description, start time & End time to create event

  2. Please upgrade to either Basic, Premium or Enterprise plans to create events

    1. Keep your external encoder device or software ready which broadcasts live video.
    2. Connect your encoder to video source
    3. Login to your Freedocast account at freedocast.com & go to events page.
    4. Create a new event if the event is not created already by following steps in How do I create an event?
    5. Click on button and then select 'GET URL' which will show a pop up with RTMP Stream URL & Stream Key.
    6. Configure your encoder with the RTMP Stream URL & Stream Key obtained in above point iv
    7. Start live streaming from the external encoder. The broadcast will be Live in the event whose Stream Key is provided to the external encoder.

  3. Freedocast users can broadcast simultaneously to other destinations using Freedocast platform. (PS: Multiple platforms settings on Freedocast.com work only with External Encoder. Broadcasting to multiple platforms through Freedocast Pro Device can be done only through Freedocast Pro App)

      2. Before starting the live streaming log on to Freedocast.com -> go to Settings page -> select 'Multiple Platforms' tab
      3. Click on 'Add' button under 'Go Live on Facebook'
      4. Login to your Facebook account and provide necessary permissions.
      5. You will be logged into your Facebook account as shown below. Choose where you will 'Stream to', like your personal Timeline or a page that you manage as admin. Click on 'SAVE & CLOSE'.
      6. Start live streaming from the external encoder. The broadcast will be live on your Timeline or Page whichever is selected in above step & on Freedocast events page
      7. To Stream to another page, click on settings icon as shown below. Select page or profile.
      8. To change Facebook account, click on Delete icon and login again with Facebook credentials.

      * Facebook Live can only be simultaneously streamed with Freedocast due to Facebook restrictions. Due to Facebook Terms of Service restrictions, it is not possible to use Facebook Live and Add a Custom Destination at the same time.

      4. Login to your YouTube Account and select 'Channel' where you want to Stream Live. Give permissions to access your account wherever necessary.
      5. Choose Privacy Settings and click 'SAVE & CLOSE'
      6. Start live streaming from the external encoder. The broadcast will be live on selected YouTube Account/Channel (check https://www.youtube.com/my_live_events or https://www.youtube.com/live_dashboard for the live Video on YouTube) and Freedocast events page
      7. To change Privacy, click on settings icon. Choose Privacy and click on 'Update'

      5. Select Twitter to Go Live on Twitter also. Click 'SAVE & CLOSE'
      6. Start live streaming from the external encoder. The broadcast will be live on selected Periscope/Twitter account and Freedocast events page
      7. To stop posting to twitter click on settings icon. Turn off twitter and 'UPDATE CHANGES'
      8. To change Periscope account, click on icon & login again with Periscope/Twitter credentials

      Method 2- With Periscope RTMP URL

      Note: Some streaming destinations include Stream Key at the end of the RTMP URL instead of providing them separately. If you are not sure, you should contact your provider for clarification.

  4. To broadcast live videos to your website Freedocast Premium Plan has to be subscribed. After starting the event live go to Events page and select the videos button in the Event. Click on three dots of the video to get Share option. Select Embed URL. Copy the Embed URL and add to your website.

    Note: Geo-blocking is available only to Premium & Enterprise Users.

  12. Log in/Register to your Freedocast account and to 'Analytics' tab. Select Events/Videos to view the Analytics. You can filter live events, catchup events date wise and video wise.

    Note: 'Password Protection' feature is available only to Enterprise Users.

  14. Most IP cameras use RTSP protocol, which is different from the RTMP protocol which is used to connect to Freedocast platform. To stream from an IP camera to Freedocast, you will need an intermediate step, which converts the RTSP feed to an RTMP feed and then pushes that to Freedocast platform.

  2. Yes, you can subscribe to Freedocast monthly plans. You can contact customer care to cancel your subscription. If within 30 days the subscription is not cancelled, the contract will be automatically renewed for another month.

    1. Do not use the IR remote when Device is live broadcasting as it may stop the broadcast
    2. Do not switch internet connection from Wi-Fi to ethernet or vice versa while live broadcasting as it may stop the live broadcast.
    3. If you use mobile phone as hotspot for internet connection to Freedocast Pro Device then Do not use the mobile for calls as it may disconnect the internet to Device

  4. Live broadcasting requires reliable internet network connection which is consistent for the whole broadcast time. Wired Connection is best recommended. Other connections can be Wi-Fi, 4G LTE,3G. Minimum of 1 Mbps internet uplink speed is required for consistent broadcasting.

To broadcast live videos to your website Freedocast Premium Plan has to be subscribed. starting the event live, go to Events page and select the button in the Event. On the Video details click on three dots of the video to get Share option. Select Embed URL. Copy the Embed URL and add to your website in a separate page

      Now select 'Private' option & tap on 'Save' if you do not want the video to be public

      After logging into freedocsat.com go to Events page & select the button in the event. On the Video details click on three dots of the video to select edit option. Select Privacy option Public/Private as shown below


      PS: If a video privacy setting is 'Private' then viewers with the video URL can only watch the video . The video will not be available in the featured videos section at https://www.freedocast.com/featured-videos

  8. Currently there is no time limit for the duration of live broadcasting. However, catchup will be formed only for only 18hrs.

    Through Freedocast Platform

    1. Sign in to Freedocast.com
    2. Go to settings & scroll down to ‘Add Graphics’
    3. Click on ‘Scroll Text’.
    4. Enter the desired text in the ‘ Main Text’ field
    5. You can choose Text Color , Strip Color, Font Size.
    6. You can also select the position of the text, direction of scrolling and the scroll speed
    7. Make sure the Scroll Text feature is enabled in the platform after entering the details & click on save.



    Through Freedocast Pro App

    A. Before going live

    1. Open Freedocast Pro App and connect to Freedocast Pro Device
    2. Open settings(gear icon) & click on ‘Add Graphics’
    3. Select Scroll Text & do required changes. Make sure ‘Scroll text enabled’ is ON & click on Save.

    (or)

    1. In the Video Title Page Click on ‘Source Preview’

    2. Click on ‘Edit Graphics’ & Select ‘Scroll Text’

    B. After Going Live

    1. To do scrolling text changes during live broadcast click on ‘Edit Graphics’ on the live screen of Pro App
